Colour and finish

Light brown, supplied pre-sanded as standard. Moisture content at manufacture is typically 5% to 9%.

Strength and stiffness

  • Internal bond (EN 319): 0.65 N/mm² minimum up to 9mm, 0.45 N/mm² from 9mm to 25mm, 0.55 N/mm² from 25mm to 30mm, 0.50 N/mm² above 30mm
  • Modulus of rupture (bending strength, EN 310): 23.0 N/mm² minimum up to 9mm, 20.0 N/mm² to 12mm, 18.0 N/mm² to 19mm, 15.0 N/mm² to 25mm, 18.0 N/mm² to 30mm, 17.0 N/mm² above 30mm
  • Modulus of elasticity (stiffness, EN 310): 2,700 N/mm² minimum from 4mm to 9mm, 1,700 N/mm² to 12mm, 1,600 N/mm² to 19mm, 1,500 N/mm² to 25mm, 2,100 N/mm² to 30mm, 1,900 N/mm² above 30mm

The dip between 9mm and 25mm is expected, not a fault. Those thicknesses are made to L-MDF grade, which is a lighter panel. See Standards below.

Screw holding

Quoted for boards over 12mm, tested to EN 320:

  • Face: 1,000 N minimum
  • Edge: 600 N minimum

Tolerances

Thickness tolerance (EN 324-1): ±0.15mm across every thickness.

Moisture performance

Premier is a dry-interior board and these figures are for reference, not a suitability claim.

  • Thickness swell after 24 hours in water (EN 317): under 17% from 6mm to 9mm, under 16% to 12mm, under 14% to 19mm, under 12% to 25mm, under 10% to 30mm, under 8% above 30mm
  • Dimensional movement in length and width (EN 318): 0.40% up to 12mm, 0.30% to 19mm, 0.25% above 19mm
  • Dimensional movement in thickness (EN 318): 6.0% up to 9mm, 5.0% to 12mm, 4.0% above 12mm

Fire Rating

Reaction to fire under EN 13986 is D-s2, d0 in boards of 9mm and above. Premier is not a flame retardant board. Where a fire rating is required, specify MEDITE Premier FR, which achieves Euroclass B.

Emissions

MEDITE Premier meets the tighter EU REACH formaldehyde limit that applies from 6 August 2026, classification E05, confirmed by testing to EN 717-1. It is also CARB Phase 2 compliant.

Standards

  • Manufactured to EN 13986 and EN 622-1
  • Meets MDF grade of EN 622-5 from 3mm to under 9mm and above 25mm, and L-MDF grade from 9mm to 25mm
  • Suitable for internal dry environments as defined by Use Class 1 of EN 335
