MEDITE Tricoya Extreme

MEDITE Tricoya Extreme, usually shortened to MTX, is an exterior-grade MDF panel made from acetylated wood fibre. Acetylation is a chemical modification of the wood itself, not a coating or a preservative treatment. The fibre stops behaving like a sponge, so the finished panel barely takes on water, barely moves, and gives fungi nothing worth eating.

That matters most at the edges. Because every fibre in the board is modified, a cut edge, a routed profile or a drilled hole is as durable as the factory face. There is no treated surface to breach. You can machine MTX freely without designing around a weak point, and you can leave it uncoated without the board failing.

MEDITE guarantee MTX for 50 years above ground and 25 years in ground. Independent testing by BRE puts the expected service life at 60 years in exterior use. Those are the numbers that separate it from every other MDF on the market, including exterior-grade MDF.

What it does well:

  • Holds its size. Swelling and shrinking are dramatically reduced compared with standard MDF.
  • Machines exactly like MDF. Same tooling, same techniques, same clean edge.
  • Takes a coating properly. Improved stability extends the life of the paint film, so recoating intervals stretch out.
  • Survives damage. If a coating chips, the exposed core is still an acetylated panel.
  • Resists fungal decay without a preservative.
  • Works indoors too, in bathrooms, wet rooms and other permanently humid spaces.

MEDITE Tricoya Extreme is used wherever a joiner would normally reach for hardwood, plastic or cement board and would rather have the machinability of MDF. It is specified across construction, joinery, signage and furniture, in both exterior and permanently wet interior conditions.
