Polyurethane reactive hot melt glue is very different from traditional hot melts used in lower-end edgebanders in that that it forms a solid bond and obtains immediate edgeband adhesion almost without any curing time. The bond also possesses superior flexibility, can withstand a larger range of temperatures and is water impenetrable. This adhesive option is ideal for applications that will be exposed to a wide range of climate conditions. Also, when comparing to traditional hot melt adhesives it requires twice as little glue application, which in return provides a thinner glue line and a better-looking finish.
The innovative laser bonding technology makes it possible to bond the edgeband and board permanently, without seams and without adhesive and optimises the production process. During the process of bonding the usual adhesive component in the edgebanding machine is replaced with a highly efficient near infrared laser. The polymer functional layer melts to the bottom of the special edgeband and bonds the components together permanently although the bond is not as strong as that of PUR glue. This makes it possible to completely do away with adhesive in edgeband processing and to create a permanently invisible bond.
