Density and moisture content
A high-density MDF panel. Moisture content at manufacture is typically 5% to 9%.
Strength and stiffness
- Internal bond (EN 319): 0.80 N/mm² minimum from 6mm to 12mm, 0.75 N/mm² minimum from 12mm to 25mm
- Modulus of rupture (bending strength, EN 310): 27.0 N/mm² minimum up to 9mm, 26.0 N/mm² to 12mm, 24.0 N/mm² to 19mm, 22.0 N/mm² to 25mm
- Modulus of elasticity (stiffness, EN 310): 2,700 N/mm² minimum up to 9mm, 2,500 N/mm² to 12mm, 2,400 N/mm² to 19mm, 2,300 N/mm² to 25mm
Screw holding
Quoted for boards over 12mm, tested to EN 320:
- Face: 1,200 N minimum
- Edge: 900 N minimum
Tolerances and finish
- Thickness tolerance (EN 324-1): ±0.15mm across all thicknesses
- Supplied pre-sanded with a smooth face, ready to paint or laminate. A light sand with 200 grit helps before applying very thin foils. Don't over-sand the faces, as an imbalance between them can cause warping.
Moisture performance
- Thickness swell after 24 hours in water (EN 317): under 12% from 6mm to 9mm, under 10% to 12mm, under 8% to 19mm, under 7% to 25mm
- Dimensional movement in length and width (EN 318): 0.30%
- Dimensional movement in thickness (EN 318): 4.0%, falling to 3.0% in the thickest boards
- After wet cycle test (EN 321): thickness swelling 19% or less from 6mm to 9mm, down to 15% in thicker boards, with internal bond retained at 0.30 N/mm² and above
Fire Rating
Reaction to fire under EN 13986 is D-s2, d0 in boards of 9mm and above. MR is not a flame retardant board. Where a fire rating is required, specify MEDITE Premier FR, which achieves Euroclass B.
Emissions
MEDITE MR meets the tighter EU REACH formaldehyde limit that applies from 6 August 2026, classification E05, confirmed by testing to EN 717-1. It is also CARB Phase 2 compliant.
Standards
- Manufactured to EN 13986 and EN 622-1
- Meets MDF-H grade, Option 1, of EN 622-5
- Suitable for internal humid environments as defined by Use Class 2 of EN 335
Identification
MEDITE colour MR green so it can be told apart from the rest of the MEDITE MDF range on site.
