Following World War II, the timber shortages and a breakdown in the global supply chain meant that the furniture industry could not cope with the increasing market demand and needed a quick and effective solution. The solution came in the form of a furniture board, another name for melamine-faced chipboard (MFC), melamine-faced MDF (MF MDF) and plywood. They are quick and relatively cheap to produce and using a melamine coating to create colour, wood or stone reproductions allowed to keep up with global design trends.
The ’70s saw an advance of MFC and MF MDF which took the furniture production market by storm. Shortly after that, furniture board quickly became the primary wood product used for mass-produced furniture, including kitchen worktops and flooring panels. And in the last decade or so, with the advanced cutting machinery becoming accessible to smaller enterprises, bespoke cabinet-makers discovered that they too could get furniture boards cut to size for private furniture commissions.
Cworkshop has been providing furniture board cut to size service for over a decade. We supply furniture boards from some of the world's biggest and well-known companies, such as Egger, Kronospan, XyloCleaf, Saviola, and others. Professionals and DIY enthusiasts alike can benefit from our in-house furniture board cut to size service.
